Direct answer

The official 1.0.1 notes describe bug and crash fixes from 1.0.0. They update the Crown Requests letter text, restore NPC visibility in Date Photos across seasons, fix a Russian dialogue crash, and address crashes involving Friday saves with a schedule bug, Mistmare viewing, the secret-bachelor Harvest Festival invite, Mines Arena rooms, the Breaking the Fire Seal cutscene, Journal/Town Rank UI, Rock Stacks, defeated monsters, and a rare Town shadow issue.

They also say that invalid wallpaper decor from mods should no longer crash the game; an alternate sprite is shown instead. This is a fallback for that specific invalid-wallpaper case, not a promise that every older mod or modded save is compatible with the current engine.

Safe troubleshooting boundary

  1. Update the game before testing the issue again.
  2. Reproduce the problem with a clean, unmodded install when possible.
  3. If the problem only appears with a modded wallpaper or flooring item, remove or update that mod for the current engine before submitting a report.
  4. Keep a local save backup before removing modded content.

What 1.0.1 does not establish

The notes do not promise compatibility for unrelated custom furniture, save edits, or mods built for an earlier engine. A fixed crash path is not evidence that a different crash has the same cause. When reporting a remaining problem, include the game version, platform, whether mods were enabled, and the exact interaction.

This page therefore does not distribute mod files or recommend a specific third-party mod.

Next step

For a reproducible issue, record the game version, platform, whether mods were enabled, and the exact item or interaction. Use the official bug-report route linked from the support pages rather than assuming the 1.0.1 fallback covers a different crash.
