Direct answer

The Farm page and independent player-facing instructions agree on the safe sequence for moving an animal building: move the animals out first, remove the building through its sign/menu, then place the returned blueprint and rebuild it at the new location. The reviewed sources describe barns and coops as removable and rebuildable rather than teleportable objects.

Before removing a barn or coop

  1. Move every resident animal to another eligible building or Hayden’s daycare.
  2. Interact with the sign/menu beside the building and choose the remove option.
  3. Confirm that the blueprint and construction materials have returned to your inventory before placing the replacement.

If the remove option is missing, treat the building as not ready to move. Do not assume that an occupied building can be safely dismantled.

Next step

Before a large rearrangement, make a local layout export or keep a manual inventory of animals, chests, and growing crops. The planner can help sketch placement, but it does not currently claim every building footprint.

Greenhouse warning

The reviewed Farm and Greenhouse pages state that moving a greenhouse while crops are growing destroys those crops. Harvest or clear the greenhouse before removing it if the plants matter. This page does not claim that every decoration, sprinkler, or storage interaction has the same result; those details remain item-specific and should be checked against a direct source.

Capacity facts that are safe to use

The reviewed Carpenter and Greenhouse pages publish interior capacity facts that are useful for planning, but they are not exterior collision footprints:

  • Small greenhouses provide 5×5 internal growing spaces.
  • Large greenhouses provide 10×10 internal growing spaces.
  • Small, medium, and large barns and coops are listed with animal capacities of 4, 8, and 12 respectively.
  • Farmhouse upgrade notes describe the starting room as 13×8, then 17×12 after the first upgrade; later side rooms are 13×9.

Use these numbers for crop, animal, and room-capacity planning. Do not use them as the red/green placement footprint in the Farm Planner: the reviewed sources do not define the exterior padding, blocked tiles, rotation geometry, or map coordinates needed for collision-safe placement.

What this guide does not claim

The sources do not provide a verified current collision footprint for every building tier in a form this site can safely import. The public Farm Planner therefore keeps its object library data-pending instead of turning community measurements into official dimensions. Use this guide for the move-safety sequence, not as a tile-accurate placement map.
